2016 "Chinese Bridge Summer Camp" 汉语桥夏令营


The Chinese Bridge Summer Camp will provide the opportunity for American students to experience the rich history, diverse culture and customs, and rapid economic development of China. The trip includes visiting historical and modern landmarks in Beijing, participating a language and cultural camp in Wuhan, making own Chinese ceramics in China’s Capital of Porcelain, Jingdezhen, meeting with Chinese students in a local school, and more!

The trip is sponsored by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing. Majority of the expenses in China will be subsidized by Hanban. Travelers have to pay international air ticket, Chinese visa fee, insurance, accomodation and transportation in Jindezhen, and program fee. This trip is organized by Confucius Institute at Bryant University. Travels and activities in China are supported by Bryant's partner school, China University of Geosciences in Wuhan (CUG). 

Dates: July 28 to August 9, 2016
Cities to visit: Beijing, Wuhan in Hubei province, Jingdezhen in Jiangxi province
Cost: $2800 (first payment of $2000 due on May 15. Final payment due on May 25)

Application qualification:

- U.S. Citizen
- High school students (ages 15 to 18)
- Interested in Chinese language and culture
- In cood health condition for international travel
Accepted applicants are required to attend 2016 STARTALK Chinese and Language Program at Bryant University from July 11 to July 22, and two pre-trip orientation held at Bryant University. STARTALK application can be found at http://china.bryant.edu

- Physician Verification 2016  (downloadable)
- Copy of the the U.S. passport (or a copy of your passport application if you don not have a passport)
- $2000 deposit. Check only. Payable to "Bryant University" ( Final payment of $800 due on May 25th).
- One Cover Letter addressing "What are your objectives of the trip" and "What aspect(s) on China you want to explore on the most during the trip"
