Program Objectives:

  • To form a partnership with the Confucius Institute at Bryant University and the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban)
  • To establish Confucius Classrooms within the Lincoln Public School System for the promotion of Chinese culture and language across the curricula for all students
  • To create a center for the introduction of Chinese language and culture to students in Grades 1-5
  • To provide students, community members and organizations with opportunities to learn about Chinese language and culture
  • To provide enrichment programs and curricula for students to study and learn Mandarin as a Foreign Language at the elementary level
  • To support participation in activities and experiences that promote awareness and knowledge of  Chinese culture and language.

Programs:
Saylesville Elementary School and Northern Lincoln Elementary started their Before and After-school Chinese language and culture programs in April 2011

Current Programs:
Lincoln Public Schools has recently started a "Before the Bell" Program at four of its elementary schools for Grades 4 & 5, which includes a Chinese language program to choose from:
1) Central
2) Northern
3) Lonsdale
4) Saylesville
