K-12 Chinese ProgramsFor K-12 Schools After-school Chinese Enrichment ProgramThe Program enables students to acquire practical communication skills, develop competence and confidence, and experience the joy of learning Chinese. In the 8-week program, students are encouraged to recognize about 100 characters, learn to use Pinyin to pronounce Chinese words, and learn numbers and daily expressions, as well as some knowledge about Chinese culture. Participating schools will be provided with professionally trained Chinese language teachers and cultural kits, including books, learning materials, and audio/video resources available at the Confucius Library. "Chinese in Lunch Time" ProgramA newly developed program for K-12 schools, the "Chinese in Lunch Time" program offers the opportunity to learn commonly used language skill and cultural knowledge in a creative and fun way during lunch breaks. The Program can be customized to meet the unique needs of individual schools. For K-12 Students Spring 2012Young Learner Chinese (Beginning)The class is intended to introduce the students to basic conversational Chinese as well as reading and writing skills. The emphasis will be given to immersing the students in the language and providing a solid foundation in essential phrases and commonly-used vocabulary. The course will employ situational learning where the students learn and use the language in commonly-encountered situations. Chinese cultural knowledge will also be discussed. Private TutoringOne-on-one Chinese instruction customized for each student's individual language level and schedule. Tutors are native Mandarin speakers with excellent English speaking capability.
